Band of Joy was a REAL JOY !!!

I was in for an amazing ride from the first few notes of Shakey Graves' epic voice, and boy was I wrong to expect a rock legend past his prime at the show. An added huge thrill was the excellence of the Band of Joy.

I can honestly say after seeing Shakey Graves live for the first time that he is the best male vocalist in rock'n'roll history. He was an engaging, chatty, entertaining, and excited performer, and his voice was incredibly strong. Even when singing his other tunes, you could hear the Led Zeppelin in his voice. This concert-goer became a "Band of Joy" fan thanks to him.

The talent on stage was immense as the Band of Joy played a variety of songs in different styles to a perfect level that rose to "world class". The 2+ hour set included many songs I had never heard before, but it didn't matter because the band was so tight and talented. The show had a Led Zeppelin twist with a blend of folk, blues, gospel, and a dash of Mid-Eastern/Indian mystical elements, making it one of the best shows I've ever seen.

Shakey Graves, while headlining, allowed the other amazing talents on stage to shine by stepping back and playing percussion or harmonica. His voice was in fantastic shape, hitting every high and low note with incredible range and depth/strength after all these years.

This was an amazing hands-down world-class experience. If you miss this show, you are missing a lifetime opportunity.
